Idle Session Timeout

Summary

Information regarding the idle session timeout for Microsoft 365 web applications.

Body

Overview

AACC utilizes an idle session timeout for Microsoft 365 web apps. If you are signed in to a M365 web app on your device and inactive for 8 hours, you'll receive the following prompt:

Idle Session Timeout prompt

Select Stay signed in to remain signed in to the M365 service. If you do nothing (or select Sign out now), you'll be automatically signed out of the M365 service.

This session timeout will only occur after 8 hours of inactivity on a per-browser session basis.  You will be signed out from all tabs corresponding to that browser session. Remaining active in your M365 web app means that you are actively interacting with the service, for example, using mouse clicks and keyboard presses.
