Overview
This article provides information regarding how students request an AACC loaner laptop, headset and/or webcam.
Instructions
Laptops
- What it is: Business-grade PC with built-in webcam and microphone, Microsoft Office suite, and web browsers. Includes adapter (charging cable) and carrying case.
- Specialty laptops are available for particular course needs (such as cybersecurity or video game design). An appropriate device will be assigned based on your course schedule at the time of your request; you do not need to request a specialty device.
- You may install additional software required for your courses, as long as the installation is in compliance with the college's Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy.
- The library does not loan Chromebooks.
- Loan period: Semester (or when your current classes end).
- You must complete a web form before your due date if you wish to renew for the next term.
- Who may borrow: Students currently enrolled in at least one AACC class (with certain narrow exceptions).
How to borrow:
- Contact circdesk@aacc.edu from your MyAACC email address and indicate that you're requesting a laptop.
- Library staff will verify your eligibility and reply with further instructions.
- If you have no access to email, please visit the circulation desk or call (410) 777-2238. If leaving a voicemail, please include your full name, student ID number, and a callback number.
Webcams:
- What it is: Webcam with microphone that cam be connected to a personal computer via USB-A port.
- You may also use with a loaner laptop if an additional camera is needed. Typically, your professor or course syllabus will inform you if you need an external camera in addition to the built-in one.
- If your personal device does not have a USB-A port, you are responsible for obtaining an adapter.
- Loan period: Semester.
- Who may borrow: AACC students.
How to borrow:
- Bring your Truxal library card or a photo ID to the circulation desk (library, second floor).
