How to Add a Printer and Print from Azure Virtual Desktop

Summary

Students can print documents to an AACC printer using their personal laptops through Azure Virtual Desktop. Students must first sign in to Azure Virtual Desktop, add the AACC printer they want to use, and then select that printer when printing their document.

Follow these steps to add a student lab printer and print your document.

Instructions

Step 1: Open Azure Virtual Desktop

  1. Sign in to Azure Virtual Desktop and open your virtual desktop.
  2. The web-based version of Azure Virtual Desktop can be accessed from the Technology Resources card in the MyAACC Portal. Detailed instructions for accessing AVD can be found here: Instructions for Accessing AVD

Step 2: Open Printer Settings

  1. Select the Windows Search bar.
  2. Type Printers.
  3. Select Printers & scanners from the search results.

Step 3: Add a Printer

  1. Under Printers & scanners, select Add device.

  1. Wait for the available printers to load.
  2. Scroll through the list and find the printer that matches the building and room number where you want to print.
  3. Example: HUMN-212-HPLJM506-1 on AACC-STUPRINT1
  4. Select Add device next to the printer you want to use.

  1. Wait for the printer to finish setting up.
  2. When the printer is ready, it should display Ready.

Step 4: Print Your Document

  1. Open the file or document you want to print.
  2. Select Print.
  3. Check the selected printer.
  4. If the printer you want to use is not selected, click the printer drop-down arrow and select the printer you added.
  5. Example: HUMN-212-HPLJM506-1 on AACC-STUPRINT1
  6. Select Print.

Your document will be sent to the printer you selected.
