Request Local Computer Admin Privilege

What Is This Service?

This service is used to request initial approval for temporary local administrator access to an AACC-owned computer.

The request requires approval from your supervisor and Information Security. Once both approvals have been received, the Technical Service Desk will record your approval and provide instructions for obtaining the local administrator password when needed.

The local administrator password is not permanently assigned to you. When you need administrative access, the TSD will provide the current password. The password may be used for 1–3 days, after which the TSD will reset it.

Once initial approval has been granted, you will not need to obtain supervisor and Information Security approval each time you need the password.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Faculty and staff who have a legitimate AACC business or academic need for local administrator access may request this service. Approval from the user's supervisor and Information Security is required before access can be provided.

Where Can I Get It?

Select Request Local Computer Admin Privilege on this page and complete the required information, including your supervisor and the reason administrative access is needed.

Your supervisor and Information Security will receive the request for approval. Once the required approvals have been received, the Technical Service Desk will notify you that the request has been approved.

How Do I Use It?

After your initial request has been approved, contact the Technical Service Desk when you need the local administrator password for your assigned AACC computer.

The TSD will verify your approved status and provide the current password. The password is intended for temporary use and will be reset after 1–3 days.

You are responsible for using the administrative password appropriately and following all AACC and IIT security, software, licensing, and acceptable-use requirements.
