Overview
This article will guide incoming and returning students and AACC employees on how to modify their name with AACC.
Instructions on how to update a Name Change for AACC employees will be under 'Employee Name Changes' in this article.
Instructions
Access and complete an Name Update Form from the AACC Records and Registration homepage.
Once completed, the form may be emailed or faxed to records@aacc.edu and/or 410-777-2489
The Records and Registration Office will contact IIT to update your AACC email address based on your new name.
Update Your Chosen Name
Students and employees may elect to have a chosen first name used in communication by instructors in the classroom and in Canvas. Legal name will still be used where necessary, including on all student financial communications. Instructions for setting pronouns can be found in this knowledge base article: Setting and Removing Personal Pronouns
To update your chosen name, navigate to MyAACC and select Self Services.
Select User Profile from the top right navigation or from the left navigation under User Options.
Select Edit Personal Identity and then enter your chosen name. Select Save.
Please allow at least 24 hours for chosen names edits to be visible in AACC online systems, such as Canvas, Outlook Email, and MyAACC.
Employee Name Changes
Employee name changes are processed by the Human Resources Office. Complete an Employee Information Update Form that can be also found on the HR Intranet.
All name changes must be made in person in Human Resources (Ludlum 106). If a name change is requested, a copy of your Social Security Card must be provided otherwise, no change will be made. For Social Security reporting purposes, your name must appear on the College’s payroll system the same as it appears on your Social Security Card. Human Resources’ staff has discretion to accept minor changes in names (for example, spelling corrections) over the phone or via mail. Print form, sign/date and return to HR, Ludlum 106.
Submit the Request a Name Change service offering when your name change has been processed if you would like your AACC email address updated to reflect your new name.
