MFA Exemption

What Is This Service?

The Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Exemption service allows eligible faculty and staff to request a temporary exemption from using MFA. MFA is an important security measure that protects sensitive data by requiring multiple forms of authentication, but in certain cases, an exemption may be necessary if the device used for MFA is unavailable. This service helps ensure that faculty and staff can continue performing their work without unnecessary interruptions while maintaining the highest level of security where feasible.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Faculty and staff members who have a valid reason to request an MFA exemption may be eligible. Requests for exemption are reviewed and granted on a case-by-case basis by the IT Security team.

Where Can I Get It?

Call the Technical Service Desk or stop by in person.

How Do I Use It?

To request an exemption, follow these steps:

  1. Call or stop by the Technical Service Desk in CRSC 108.
  2. Submit a request specifying your role and the reasons for the exemption.
  3. The team will review your submission and, if approved, configure your account for the exemption.
  4. You will be notified once the temporary exemption is applied, and you can proceed without MFA for the specified systems.
